So, while taking a short break from marking papers this evening, I was catching up on some blog reading and saw this posting on The Bloggess.  And I thought I’d give it a try myself, to see what the people are Goolging these days.  And this is what I saw:

Why indeed?

I am equally interested in "why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch" as I cannot imagine why one would turn to Google to answer that question…

It is pretty amazing what people think Google can answer.

Not so "why indeed", actually. For many years, Dr. Laura Schlessinger on her radio program was busy poisoning minds with her prosthelytizing using passages in the Bible to decry such things as homosexuality. The query generates a link to this parody of Schlessinger's reliance on the Bible:

And Dr. Laura was also thoroughly (and deliciously) skewered on a West Wing episode:

That's brilliant! I'm totally keeping the questions from that letter handy the next time for the next time I run across someone using Bible passages a la "Dr." Laura.

Thanks for passing that along, JohnB!
